Leaks Suggest Mark Hamill’s Return as The Joker in MultiVersus

MultiVersus data mining reveals hidden Joker voice lines
by Joe Wilcock on October 01, 2022

Although Mark Hamill has endured somewhat of a journeyman career, seamlessly transitioning from live-action to voice acting, he will always be remembered for two roles; Luke Skywalker and The Joker. The stark contrast between the two characters epitomises Hamill's range and prowess. To even be associated with the crown prince of crime after portrayals by Jack Nicholson, Heath Ledger and Joaquin Pheonix is some feat, but for gamers, he will always be the quintessential Joker.

Since 1992 Hamill has been the voice of any non-live action Joker, between the Arkham and Batman Animated Series he had already secured his legacy before seemingly hanging up his boots in 2010 after the release of Arkham City. Troy Baker, of Last of Us and Bioshock Infinite fame, would take on the mantel before Hamill returned as the Dark Knight's antithesis in Arkham Knight. But that was to truly be his last bout.

That was until leaker, Laisul, revealed some undisclosed voice lines from MultiVersus, a result of some thorough data mining. So far, MultiVersus has spared no expenses in bringing back actors who are synonymous with their corresponding characters and they look to continue that trend with The Joker, a long-rumoured fighter set to join the roster. Although there has been no concrete proof, apart from the voice lines sounding very much like Mark Hamill, the data is pretty convincing. The leaked audio logs include lines such as "think ya lost that one, bucko," "point for the blue bozos," and "that's who you're going with?", all of which sound eerily similar to Mark Hamill himself, but could as easily be an authentic sound-a-like.

Time will tell if the Joker will in fact join the pantheon of fighters in MultiVersus and if he does, hopefully, it will be done right with
Hamill reprising his iconic role.
